Charles Damm in 1901 created the first designs for the elongated coins available at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. But it was not until the 1893 Worlds Fair in Chicago that these Elongated, Pressed Pennies got the attention of the collector. 

Coins of all denominations were rolled during the 1893 event, as well as several different designs featuring some of the iconic sights of the fair. Today the U.S. Cent elongated dominates the bulk of the collecting base with designs that range in a variety of topics, events and places.
