This spectacular Gem Proof adaptation of the extremely popular series 1896 $5.00 silver certificate features the portrait of Ta-to-ka-in-yan-ka, also known as Running Antelope, a member of the Oncpapa tribe of Sioux Indians. This is the only issue of U.S. paper money for which an Indian was selected as the central figure in the design.

This note weighs over a quarter-pound (4 Troy ounces) of .999 pure silver bullion.

In the Minting process each note is struck several times with extremely high pressure to guarantee that all of the fine details and the stunning Gem Proof mirrored background will be of the highest quality. This is the same process the U.S. Mint uses when striking Proof coins.
